Make a Will Month

Leaving a gift in your Will is a valuable way to support the work we do and make sure we are able to support our patients and their families in the future.

Staff at the hospice work tirelessly to ensure people receive the vital and specialist care and support when they need it most – but we rely on the help of our community to so we can continue to offer this amazing care.

What is Make a Will Month?

Our annual Make a Will Month offers our supporters the chance to make a Will with various local solicitors in return for a donation to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.

Not having a Will can lead to confusion, upset and uncertainty at what could be a very emotional time. Making the steps to get your affairs in order now will mean you can enjoy quality time with your family and friends, knowing that you have done everything you can to ensure they will be looked after.

Thanks to our participating solicitors from across Cumbria, you can create your Will at a reduced rate this April, giving you peace of mind for the future.

The suggested donations for making your Will as part of this scheme are £130 for a single basic Will, £200 for a pair of basic mirror Wills and £40 for a codicil.

Step 1. Choose your solicitor
Choose from our list of participating local solicitors and book an appointment directly with them. Please quote ‘Eden Valley Hospice Make a Will Month’ when you call. Your appointment must be held during April 2024.

Step 2. Consider your wishes
To maximise the time you have with your solicitor it would be useful for you to consider your wishes and make a note of your assets and beneficiaries. Your solicitor will assist with this when you call to make your appointment.
Step 3. Attend your appointment
At the appointment your solicitor will discuss your wishes and draft your Will. Make a Will Month appointments covers a basic Will, so if you have a large estate or your circumstances are complicated, you will be advised of any extra costs involved. Your donation will then be directed to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw to support those we care for. Thank you.
