Break the Rules Day

Join us for a Break the Rules Day in celebration of Jigsaw’s 10-year anniversary!

We’re the only children’s hospice in Cumbria and care for children and young adults from across the whole county. We offer care four nights and five days a week to allow children with the most complex conditions to have some time away from home. This gives time for families to rest and recharge and spend quality time with other siblings.

We need your schools to get involved in our latest initiative, to fundraise towards the £3,561.64 a day it takes for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s only children’s hospice to care for children with a life-limiting illness.

We are thrilled to invite you to participate in an exciting event as we celebrate a significant milestone here at Jigsaw – our 10-Year Anniversary! In honour of this momentous occasion, we are launching a Break the Rules Day during Children’s Hospice Week on Friday, June 21st.

Break the Rules Day is a fantastic opportunity for schools like yours to join with us, your local children’s hospice, in a fun and meaningful fundraising initiative. By taking part, not only will you have a great day filled with excitement, but you’ll also be making a real difference in the lives of children and young adults across the county who rely on our crucial care.

Sign Up Your School: Register your school to participate in Break the Rules Day by clicking here. Once signed up, you’ll receive your very own fundraising pack filled with resources to help you make the most of the day.

How to organise a Break the Rules Day

This could be an event at your school, or at your club, such as brownies, cubs or scouts.

There are a few things you’ll want to think about before your event.

What are the rules you’d like to apply?

We just have two rules of our own:

1 – the children donate £1 for each rule they break

2 – (the most important one) the children have lots of fun while raising money for their local hospice

For example, you could break some of the below rules:

  • No silly hair styles
  • No odd socks
  • No nail varnish
  • No tattoos
  • Pencils only
  • No hats

Promoting your day

Think about the best way to promote your event before the 21st of June.

If it’s for school, try school publications or your school newsletter. Put it on your website to share with families and encourage them to also donate.

If it’s for a club or group, mention your event in any literature that the club produces. Put it on the club’s website and all social media pages.

Use our poster templates and put them around the school or local area after copying in your own rules.

Can you add anything extra to your fundraising? A raffle perhaps?

Capture the excitement of Break the Rules Day through photos and videos. Share your school’s journey on social media using #BreakTheRulesforJigsaw and tag us [@JigsawHospice] to spread the word and inspire others to get involved.

Get involved

Sign up by completing the form and we will be in touch to help you along the way. Or for more information email Vicki.lesley@edenvalleyhospice.org or call 01228 810801.

Your hospice is here to help you make the most of your Break the Rules Day. Our team of friendly fundraisers are on hand to help you with whatever you may need and would love to visit your school to talk to the children about the impact of their support – just let us know if you’d like us to pay you a visit.

Being in Jigsaw took everything off your mind because they were cooking your meals, washing the clothes and doing everything which allowed us to focus on Jacob
Andrea – who's son Jacob died in Jigsaw
