Challenge yourself in the beauty of the Lake District

This summer a team of team of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice fundraisers will embark on a new challenge in the beauty of the north lakes.

On Saturday 7 August, the local charity will host its first Bikes, Boats, Boots Challenge with Ullswater and Helvellyn providing a stunning and scenic backdrop. Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw are searching for fundraisers to join the action-packed day which will include cycling, canoeing, and hiking.

Eleanor Viney, Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Fundraising Manager, explained “We are really excited to be hosting this wonderful challenge in the beautiful Lake District. We know that so many people enjoy exploring the lakes, fells and mountains in our home county, but this event will offer new and exciting ways to explore the landscape and challenge themselves this summer.

“Whether people enter as a team of four, a couple or individually we can guarantee a brilliant day of adventure and fundraising. Throughout the day, you will work as a team of four fantastic fundraisers supporting local people with life limiting illnesses.”

The day is made up of 5 stages, encompassing the 3 different ways to travel - on bikes, on boats, and in boots! During the Bikes, Boats, Boots Challenge all fundraisers will complete a total of 30 miles cycling, a 2 mile canoe on the stunning Ullswater and a round trip of 6 miles hiking to the 726 metre summit of the magnificent Helvellyn.

The money raised by each fundraiser taking part in Bikes, Boats, Boots will help Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw to provide the highest standards of specialist care and compassion to people with life limiting illnesses. This care, compassion and comforting hand to hold is extended to all the patients’ families, friends and carers.

2021 is a special and significant year for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw as it marks three decades of caring for local people with life limiting illnesses. For over 30 years the support of the local community has helped to build the hospice, purchase specialist equipment and provide vital care to local people with life limiting illnesses. Every donation helps the local community.

Registration for Bikes, Boats, Boots is now open. Registration for a Fundraiser is £50 per person, with a Minimum Donation Amount of £375. The hospice also has a Self-Funded Registration Fee of £225 with no minimum Donation.
