Louise prepares to run in aid of local hospice
- Saturday, 23 February 2019
Louise Little will be racing around the streets of Liverpool on Sunday 26 May to help the care, support and activities at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
This year’s Liverpool Rock and Roll Half Marathon will be special for Louise Little as she runs in memory of her mother and in aid of the local charity.
Louise, 50 from Brampton, explains
“I chose this charity as when my wonderful mum was diagnosed with cancer hospice at home gave our family much needed respite and support to cope at the hardest of times. I also have friends who have been supported by the hospice whilst caring for and saying goodbye to loved ones. The hospice holds a special place in my heart for that.
“I have been running for the last year having done Couch to 5k with Border Reiver Running Club in Carlisle. They are an amazing, supportive and encouraging group of positive people who encourage and motivate people to run. The club is free and I honestly wouldn’t even be thinking about this without them. The group is going to do the half and Liverpool happens to be my mum’s home town so it seemed a fitting tribute to her.”
Every runner taking part in this year’s Liverpool Rock and Roll Half Marathon will have their own memory, reason and purpose for completing the 13.1 mile course. Whether it is to set a personal best time or to raise money in aid of charity they will create memories which will last a lifetime. Louise will be joined by her running buddies Sharon Dickson, Rikki Dawson McDowell and Jo Park on the start line of the event.
“I’m excited and mildly terrified by the prospect of running 13 miles, but am expecting the fantastic Liverpool people and the spirit of my mum and my running buddies to keep me going. However, I’m most worried about running out of steam.”
The money raised by Louise at the Rock and Roll Half Marathon will be put towards Sarah Foster’s fundraising as she raises money to help the refurbishment of the bedrooms at Eden Valley Hospice.
