Race night raises over £2,700 for local charity

The money raised at a charity race night will help to Pay For a Day of Care at Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.

On Friday 28 September the Hallmark Hotel, Carlisle, hosted a charity Race Night organised by Grant Seaton and Emma Lindsay. More than 120 people attended on the evening and their kindness and generosity has helped to raise £2,705 in aid of Jigsaw.

Grant Seaton, Senior Business Lending Manager at The Cumberland Building Society, said

“We have been blown away by how supportive everybody has been of the event. To raise the amount in a little over 4 hours was amazing. As well as all the businesses who donated prizes and took part in the night, we must thank Ian Milburn of IM Events who volunteered his services for free as the compere for the night.”

Emma Lindsay, Recruitment Manager at NXT, said

“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support we received for the event. Once again, we would like to thank all the very generous local businesses that were eager to get involved and show their support for the event and the charity. Everyone seemed to have lots of fun on the night, which was great to see.

“I’d like to also say a special thank you to our volunteer bookkeepers on the evening too – Aimee Lindsay, Julie Gray and Kirsty Wright. A brilliant night all round.”

Along with the money raised from the horse racing, the evening also included an auction with a wide range of prizes, including a signed Anthony Joshua boxing glove, a Holiday Let in Keswick, a box of Donuts from Bruce and Luke’s and much more.

The money raised on the evening will help Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice to care for children and young adults with life limiting illnesses. The Carlisle based charity currently need to raise £2,126.46 to Pay For a Day of, care, activities and support.

Natalie Bingham, Corporate Relationship Co-ordinator at Jigsaw, said

“We would all like to say a huge thank you to Grant, Emma and everybody who attended the charity Race Night. Your incredible generosity and support real will make a difference to all the children and young adults at Jigsaw as you Pay For a Day of Jigsaw care.

“Pay For a Day is a unique opportunity for every individual, family, company or organisation in Cumbria to make a real, immediate contribution to the care of children and young adults with life limiting illnesses. It allows you to pat for the entire running costs of our children’s hospice service – for a whole 24 hours. You can choose the day – and choose how to raise or donate the funds needed.”

Grant and Emma would like to thank the following businesses for sponsoring the races on the evening: Thomas Graham & Son Ltd, Moynan Smith, Seavor Chartered, More Handles, Jane Sedgwick – Travel Counsellor, Kingmoor Consulting, Kingmoor Park and Baines Wilson. They would also like to thank everybody who attended the event, backed a horse or purchased an auction prize.
