- Friday, 10 August 2018
This August a local businessman and his grand daughter will ride a tricycle the length of Blackpool Illuminations to help the care, support and activities provided at Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
On Tuesday 28 August, Donald Marks, who runs the successful and well know local business D. Marks Carpets, and his granddaughter Ava will take part in the annual Ride the Lights – Blackpool Illuminations event. Between 7pm and 10pm hundreds of cyclists will take to the closed roads along the promenade as the complete the 6 mile route.
Donald Marks explained,
“It is amazing to be supporting Jigsaw by cycling the length of Blackpool Illuminations. I am really looking forward to the day and to supporting Cumbria’s only children’s hospice. I know from first-hand experience that the money raised will really make a difference to the care, support and activities provided to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses.“
The wonderful event provides cyclists with the opportunity to get the first look at the Blackpool Illuminations ahead of the Switch On. The 6 mile route will include entertainment the length of the route, along with the opportunity to detour through Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
The money raised by Donald and Ava will help Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice to provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to children and young adults with life limiting illnesses. This care and compassion is extended to all the children and young adult family, friends and carers.
