Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw is a dynamic and responsive specialist care provider for adults, children and young people with palliative and end of life care needs. We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our energetic, friendly, specialist palliative care team on Jigsaw Children’s Hospice.
Based in Carlisle, we have a 10-bed inpatient unit, day hospice and children’s hospice.
We work collaboratively across the county with strong links to other care providers.
Jigsaw is a place of fun and laughter where children and young adults can stay and create memories which will last a lifetime. Our team provides one to one care for children and young adults with life limiting illnesses. Our home from home environment allows the nurses to match the children and young adults home routines as closely as possible, ensuring a smooth, relaxing and peaceful transition between home and hospice environments.
Our environment differs from most. You will be working as part of a supportive and welcoming multidisciplinary team with time to care for and build relationships with children, young people and their families. We also work collaboratively across the county with strong links to other care providers. Nursing roles within Jigsaw are incredibly fulfilling.
The hospice’s vision is to provide excellence in specialist palliative care and to ensure patients receive consistently high standards of care in all care settings within the organisation.
Eden Valley Hospice provides a creative and unique environment with many opportunities for personal and professional growth and pay progression. A willingness to advance skills is therefore essential. There is a culture of reflection, training, support and development for all staff, with access to regular clinical supervision and training.
You will be required to work various shifts across the week (12 hours) on rotation between days, nights and weekends. Due to our culture of training and development, we would strongly encourage applications from newly qualified nurses, who will be supported with a preceptorship programme.
Our clinical teams are at the heart of everything we do. We appreciate that, as a charity, we may appear to be a less stable option than other healthcare employers. However, we recently celebrated our 30th anniversary and plan to be around for many years to come. Whilst we can never be complacent about the scale of the fundraising challenge that we continually face, the success of our income generation efforts and our prudent approach to managing our resources will ensure that we remain financially secure.
We offer some great benefits including generous shift enhancements, free on-site parking, access to our Employee Assistance Programme and for eligible employees, the opportunity to remain in the NHS pension scheme.
