Location: Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, with travel around the county
Days and Times: Various, ad hoc – subject to trips and visits
Reports to: Jigsaw Team Leads
Purpose of the role
We are looking for compassionate and reliable volunteer drivers to support our children’s hospice service. This role plays a vital part in helping children and families access activities safely and comfortably. As a volunteer driver, you will provide a friendly and supportive presence, helping to make each journey a positive experience for the children and families we care for.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely drive children, young people, and/or family members to and from the hospice, appointments, or outings
- Provide a warm, welcoming and supportive experience during journeys
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean, tidy, and roadworthy, reporting any issues promptly
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of children and families at all times
- Follow hospice policies and procedures, including health and safety and driving for work requirements
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, changes or concerns
- Complete any required records, such as mileage logs
Role Requirements
- Full, valid UK driving license with a clean driving record
- Confident, safe, and responsible driver
- Friendly, patient, and approachable with good communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with sensitivity
- Reliable and able to commit to agreed shifts or availability
- Willingness to undertake required training and follow hospice guidelines
Training Requirements
- On-line mandatory training relevant to the role
- Relevant face to face training when required
