Purpose of the role
Community Champions provide vital voluntary support at hospice-led and third-party events within the local community. The role may also involve helping to organise and run small-scale fundraising activities as part of the Community Champions group, such as coffee mornings or bake sales.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Duties will vary depending on the event but may include
- Bucket collections
- Manning stalls
- Providing general assistance as needed
At larger events, such as county shows, this could involve welcoming visitors at entry gates and checking tickets, collecting donations around the venue, assisting at the hospice stall, selling merchandise, and engaging with the public to raise awareness of the hospice’s work.
Role Requirements
- Friendly and approachable manner
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to be flexible and lend a hand where needed
