Sarah trained locally and worked in North Cumbria as a GP for 11 years, until an opportunity arose to join the West Cumbria Specialist Palliative Care team in 2011, enabling her to pursue a long‑standing interest in palliative care. She received the Cicely Saunders Medal from Cardiff University for the Diploma in Palliative Medicine in 2016. Before joining the team at Eden Valley Hospice in July 2021, Sarah gained valuable experience in managing patients with complex palliative needs in the community, the acute hospital setting, and a small specialist palliative care inpatient unit. Sarah successfully completed the portfolio route to Specialist Doctor in 2023. She is a strong advocate for clinical education and training; a clinical supervisor for GP registrars, foundation doctors and advanced clinical practitioners, as well as an educational supervisor for foundation doctors. Sarah also works as a local Medical Examiner.
