The children cared for by Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, have specialist requirements which means the best present we can give is compassionate care in a safe and welcoming environment.

Currently, there are two wooden beds which need to be replaced as they are over 10 years old and no longer have the level of infection control requirements that we need. We have to add extra removeable bumpers to the sides of the old beds to protect children while they sleep, so that they can’t poke their hands, arms or legs through the wooden railings and injure themselves.

The new Klearside beds, which we are hoping to purchase, come with soft sides built to protect the children and meet all our care requirements. The bed also has the option of a fully upright seated position. One of the children who is 6 years old regularly uses this feature to watch films and called the bed ‘the coolest bed ever’!

We need two Klearside beds which cost approximately £3860 each. Not only will these new beds give the children the best possible care, but they will also increase our capacity to care for more children staying in Jigsaw at the same time.
