A popular charity shop in Carlisle is extending its opening hours to give city shoppers the chance to grab a bargain later in the day.
Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice’s shop in Lonsdale Street is planning to open later every Thursday, on a trial basis, to offer an opportunity for those who work during the day an opportunity to shop.
The store is well-known to local shoppers for its excellent range of affordable ladieswear, men’s clothing and bric-a-brac and is currently open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. The extended opening trial will see the shop open until 5.30pm every Thursday from April 27th.
All the money raised through sales in the shop go directly to supporting local patients with life-limiting illnesses, their families and loved ones from across Cumbria at a time when it is needed the most.
Beth Weir, who manages the shop for the charity, said: “Here at the Lonsdale Street shop, we pride ourselves on offering a fantastic range of pre-loved goods at reasonable prices, meaning you can shop sustainably and raise vital funds so the hospice can continue caring for local families.
“We’ve got a wonderfully loyal customer base who support us regularly, but we know there are other potential customers who’d like to shop here but just can’t make it after work. This is why we’re trialling some longer opening hours to give people more of a chance to see what we’ve got to offer.”
