During the summer two local ladies walked 26 miles around a local beauty sport to help the care, support and activities provided at a local charity.
On Saturday 8 July Carol Sharman and Rachael Little, both Healthcare Assistants at Eden Valley Hospice, walked around Talkin Tarn as they completed Laps For Loved Ones. On the day Carol and Rachael were joined by more than 100 other walkers as they helped to raise more than £4,000 for the local charity.
“For all the families we have nursed and people we have hugged and had hours of special talks and tears with, we thought we would do something to help to continue the very special care and companionship that everyone of these families need.
“Family members face the most challenging and toughest times that they could ever go through at the hospice, even then they always want to give something back, that’s what inspired us! We decided to do 20 times around Talkin Tarn as it worked out at 26 miles. Everyone got involved and the day itself was a beautiful sunny day with, families, friends and other walkers coming along too.
“Myself and Rachael can’t thank everyone who supported the event enough, as it was very humbling and emotional to see how many people came together and make the day work. It definitely was the wow factor.”
The kindness and generosity of Carol, Rachael and all of the fundraising walkers and sponsors helped to raise £4,192.56 in aid of Eden Valley Hospice. The money raised will be help the local charity to provide the highest standards of care, support and activities to adults with life limiting illnesses.
